Track DPD with context

DPD tracking events are stored as a timeline, making it straightforward to follow the progress of a shipment without checking back on the DPD site multiple times.

Labelling parcels by item or order reference helps when managing deliveries from multiple carriers at once.

DPD tracking number formats

DPD tracking numbers are typically 14 digits, though formats vary by country and service level. Some DPD numbers include letters or are formatted as a longer string depending on the sending depot.

Paste the tracking number exactly as shown on the DPD shipping label or dispatch confirmation when adding it to ParcelTag.

About DPD

DPD (Dynamic Parcel Distribution) is a European parcel network owned by GeoPost, a subsidiary of La Poste. It was founded in Germany in 1976 and now operates across more than 230 countries and territories with a fleet of around 70,000 vehicles.

DPD is one of the three largest parcel carriers in Europe alongside DHL Parcel and UPS. Its Predict service sends recipients a one-hour delivery window on the morning of delivery, reducing failed delivery attempts.

DPD status messages explained

"Parcel data received" or "order created" means DPD has shipment information but has not yet collected the parcel. "Picked up" means the parcel is in the DPD network. "In transit" covers movement between depots. "Out for delivery" means the parcel is on the delivery round.

"Recipient not at home" means a delivery attempt was made but nobody was available — DPD will usually reattempt or redirect to a parcel shop. A notification card is typically left with instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my DPD parcel not updating?+

DPD tracking can go without updates for hours between depot scans, especially overnight or over weekends. If the parcel has not moved for more than two business days, contact DPD directly.

What does "parcel data received" mean on DPD?+

This means DPD has received shipment information from the sender but has not yet physically picked up the parcel. Tracking will begin updating once the parcel enters the DPD depot network.
